Islamabad, April 30: Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, called on Shaza Fatima Khawaja to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.

During the meeting, both sides discussed various initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional linkages, promoting joint training programmes, and increasing exchanges of official delegations between Pakistan and Ethiopia.

The discussions also focused on facilitating knowledge exchange for human resource development, particularly in soft skills and technology transfer, to help strengthen ICT infrastructure in both countries.

Ambassador Oba briefed the minister on Digital Ethiopia 2030, Ethiopia’s national digital transformation strategy, highlighting its role in modernising governance, the economy, and society. He also underscored efforts to promote emerging technologies among youth, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

The ambassador stressed that knowledge sharing and technology transfer between the two countries were vital for achieving sustainable development across the Global South.

Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja reaffirmed the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to deepening relations with African nations, particularly Ethiopia, which she described as an important gateway to Africa.
