Islamabad, May 5, 2026: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Atif Ikram Sheikh announced on Tuesday that the federation, in collaboration with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), would finalize a comprehensive set of proposals to present a “shadow budget” for the upcoming fiscal year.

Speaking during a visit to ICCI, Atif Ikram Sheikh said the initiative aimed to ensure that the priorities and concerns of Pakistan’s business community were effectively reflected in the national budget-making process.

The FPCCI delegation included Vice President Tariq Khan Jadoon, Chairman Coordination Malik Sohail Hussain and other senior members. Upon arrival, they were received by ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, Vice President Irfan Chaudhry and executive members of the chamber.

Atif Ikram Sheikh said FPCCI had received a broad range of budget recommendations from chambers of commerce across the country, which would now be consolidated and refined jointly with ICCI into a unified “shadow budget.”

He added that the finalized proposals would be presented to policymakers and relevant stakeholders, while also being shared with the media to strengthen advocacy for business-friendly economic policies.

The FPCCI president stressed that the exercise was focused on promoting ease of doing business, policy continuity and economic facilitation, which he described as essential for sustainable growth and long-term economic stability.

He also praised Sardar Tahir Mehmood for his leadership and contributions toward strengthening the role and effectiveness of ICCI.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Tahir Mehmood highlighted the chamber’s recent achievements and reaffirmed ICCI’s commitment to creating a more business-friendly environment. He said the chamber remained focused on resolving challenges faced by the business community and supporting practical reforms to enhance economic activity.

During the visit, members of the FPCCI delegation also offered Fateha for the late mother of ICCI Vice President Irfan Chaudhry and prayed for patience and strength for the bereaved family.

Expressing gratitude, Irfan Chaudhry thanked the delegation for their support and solidarity during a difficult time.

The meeting was attended by several prominent ICCI members, including Executive Members Waseem Chaudhry, Mohammad Ali Mirza, Zulqurnain Abbasi, Ishaq Sial, Malik Mohsin Khalid, Rohail Anwar Butt, former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry and senior member Israr ul-Haq Mishwani.

The visit concluded with both FPCCI and ICCI leadership reaffirming their commitment to joint policy advocacy and ensuring that the concerns of Pakistan’s business community are translated into practical economic reforms.
