Ishaq Dar reviews sugar production, expresses satisfaction over supply outlook

Islamabad, May 5, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review sugar production at the conclusion of the current crushing season.

During the meeting, the deputy prime minister expressed satisfaction over the encouraging level of sugar production this season, stating that the output would help ensure adequate availability of sugar in domestic markets while contributing to price stability across the country.

Officials briefed the meeting on the overall production situation, supply outlook and market requirements following the completion of the crushing season.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, as well as secretaries of the ministries of Industries, Commerce and National Food Security, along with other senior officials from relevant departments.

The participants reviewed measures aimed at maintaining stable sugar supplies and ensuring smooth market operations in the coming months.
