Makkah Mukarramah, May 16,2026: The Pakistan Hajj Mission’s ‘Lost & Found’ Cell has achieved a remarkable performance during the ongoing Hajj season by maintaining a 100 percent complaint resolution rate for missing Pakistani pilgrims in the holy city of Makkah.
According to officials, the cell has also successfully restored more than 2,143 lost bags to pilgrims and ensured the safe return of thousands of misplaced belongings and essential items.
Head of the Lost & Found Cell and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Tariq Muhammad Khan, urged pilgrims to properly label their luggage with their Hajj card number, building number, and city of origin to facilitate quick recovery of misplaced items.
Speaking to the media in Makkah, he said the cell received a total of eight complaints regarding missing pilgrims, all of whom were successfully traced and safely escorted back to their residences, achieving a complete resolution rate.
He further revealed that out of 2,151 luggage complaints registered so far, 2,143 bags had been recovered and returned to their rightful owners, leaving only eight unresolved cases, reflecting an impressive recovery rate of approximately 98 percent.
Similarly, the cell handled 62 complaints related to wheelchairs, of which 60 were resolved, while only two cases remain pending.
In a notable display of honesty and integrity, the Lost & Found team also recovered and returned more than 6,800 Saudi Riyals — equivalent to around Rs510,000 — to pilgrims who had accidentally lost their cash during the pilgrimage.
Explaining the operational mechanism, Tariq Muhammad Khan said a comprehensive transport system had been established to move pilgrims’ luggage from Jeddah and Madinah directly to residential buildings in Makkah.
He noted that many pilgrims proceed immediately for Umrah upon arrival, leaving luggage unattended outside buildings. Any baggage left unclaimed for more than six hours is taken into official custody to prevent theft, loss, or damage.
To further improve efficiency, the Pakistan Hajj Mission has introduced a digital complaint system through the ‘Pakistan Hajj App’ and WhatsApp, enabling pilgrims to report missing persons or belongings without visiting the office physically.
The Lost & Found Cell continues to operate round-the-clock in two shifts under the supervision of the Mission’s Central Control Room, ensuring uninterrupted support and assistance for Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj operations.
