Islamabad, August 18, 2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday congratulated Pakistan Observer Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Faisal Zahid Malik on the announcement of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his services to journalism and the media sector.
Faisal Zahid Malik called on the Senate chairman at his chamber in Parliament House, Islamabad, where the two discussed the prevailing state of journalism and the media industry in Pakistan.
Gilani appreciated Malik’s longstanding contributions to journalism and his efforts to promote responsible and professional journalism in the country. He said a free, responsible and professional press was essential for strengthening democratic values and parliamentary institutions.
The two sides also exchanged views on the challenges confronting Pakistan’s media industry and the need to uphold professional standards and responsible journalism.
Senator Al-Haj Muhammad Umer Gorgaij, Member of the National Assembly Musa Gilani, and Saud Faisal Malik, Deputy Chief Editor and Chief of Digital at Pakistan Observer, were also present during the meeting.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere.
