Lahore, May 16,2026: Fatima Sana will captain Pakistan women’s national cricket team in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Saturday while unveiling a 15-member squad for the mega event and the preceding tri-series in Ireland.
According to the PCB, Pakistan will participate in a tri-series in Dublin from May 28 to June 4 alongside hosts Ireland and the West Indies as part of preparations for the World Cup.
The cricket board said the tri-series would provide ideal preparation ahead of the 12-team global tournament, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
Five players — Eyman Fatima, Natalia Pervaiz, Rameen Shamim, Saira Jabeen and Tasmia Rubab — have earned maiden selections for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The 24-year-old Fatima Sana will appear in her third Women’s T20 World Cup and will lead Pakistan for the second consecutive edition after captaining the side during the 2024 tournament in the UAE.
Ahead of the World Cup, Pakistan will play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team on June 6 and Scotland women’s national cricket team on June 9 in Derby.
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals India women’s national cricket team at Edgbaston on June 14 before facing South Africa women’s national cricket team at the same venue on June 17.
The team will then travel to Southampton to take on Bangladesh women’s national cricket team at the Hampshire Bowl on June 20.
Pakistan’s fourth group-stage fixture will be against Australia women’s national cricket team at Headingley on June 23, while their final league match will be against Netherlands women’s national cricket team at the Bristol County Ground on June 27.
