Islamabad, May 23, 2026: Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Ayaz Sadiq, has expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences over the tragic gas explosion at the Liushenyu Coal Mine in Shanxi Province, which claimed dozens of lives and left several others injured.
According to a press release issued by the National Assembly Secretariat’s Directorate General of Media, the speaker extended sympathies on behalf of the National Assembly and the people of Pakistan to the bereaved families and the people of China during what he described as a painful and difficult time.
Ayaz Sadiq said the people of Pakistan deeply shared the grief of their Chinese brothers and sisters and stood in complete solidarity with them during the tragedy.
He prayed for strength, courage, and patience for the families who lost their loved ones in the incident and also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the explosion.
Reaffirming the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, the speaker said the relationship between the two countries was built on mutual trust, shared sorrow, and unwavering support during times of hardship.
