London, November 12, 2024- Former Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has called on India to send its cricket team to Pakistan, suggesting that such an initiative could help ease tensions and improve bilateral relations. Speaking to the media in London, alongside his daughter and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sharif emphasized the positive impact a cricket series could have on diplomacy. “If relations are strained, they need to be improved. People want to see the Indian cricket team play in Pakistan,” he stated.
Sharif also highlighted the importance of fostering strong ties with other neighboring countries, commenting on Pakistan’s relationship with the United States. “Pakistan and the US should have good relations. In the past, our relations were strong, but there is a need for further improvement,” he added.
Addressing recent incidents, Sharif condemned the attack on former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s car in London, describing it as a troubling sign of a “growing culture of disrespect.” He accused the opposition party in power of encouraging this incivility. Sharif further criticized the involvement of youth in disruptive actions, noting that they were directed to chase vehicles and engage in improper behavior. “If protest is their right, it should be conducted in a respectful manner,” he concluded.
