Karachi, May 31, 2026: Former Pakistan Test batter Mohammad Yousuf has paid tribute to the country’s cricketing legends after Pakistan completed a landmark 1,000th One-Day International appearance with a commanding victory over Australia in Rawalpindi.
Taking to social media platform X, Yousuf shared a star-studded all-time Pakistan XI, featuring some of the most iconic names in the country’s cricket history, while also recalling the celebrated 1992 World Cup triumph.
He listed his selected side as follows: Imran Khan as captain and all-rounder, Wasim Akram as fast bowler, Saeed Anwar as batter, Rashid Latif as wicketkeeper, and Saqlain Mushtaq as spinner, describing them as standout figures across different eras of Pakistan cricket.
Yousuf also highlighted the 1992 World Cup final as the most unforgettable moment in Pakistan’s cricketing history.
Meanwhile, Pakistan marked their milestone 1,000th ODI appearance with a five-wicket win over Australia in the series opener at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
The victory was powered by a sensational debut performance from Arafat Minhas, who delivered a record-breaking spell of fast bowling. The debutant claimed 5 wickets for 32 runs in 10 overs, becoming the first Pakistani bowler to take a five-wicket haul on ODI debut and registering the best-ever debut figures by a Pakistan player.
Australia were bowled out for 200 in 42.3 overs, struggling against disciplined Pakistani bowling throughout the innings.
In response, Pakistan chased down the target comfortably, reaching 204 for 5 in 42.3 overs. Former captain Babar Azam anchored the innings with a composed 69 off 94 balls, including four boundaries and a six, while Ghazi Ghori added a fluent 65 off 92 deliveries.
With Pakistan taking a 1–0 lead in the three-match series, both teams will now travel to Lahore for the remaining fixtures. The second and third ODIs are scheduled to be played at Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and June 4 respectively.
