Islamabad, June 1, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss the current regional situation and other developments of mutual interest.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed serious concern over recent developments in the region, including alleged ceasefire violations in Lebanon by Israel and reports of Israeli government directives regarding potential military action in parts of Beirut.

During the conversation, the Iranian foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in regional diplomacy and requested Islamabad to continue using its good offices to help facilitate de-escalation and support efforts aimed at maintaining the ceasefire.

Dar conveyed Pakistan’s deep concern over the evolving situation and stressed the importance of ensuring that the ceasefire remains intact to prevent any deterioration of the current understandings and avoid further escalation.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional developments and reaffirmed the need for continued diplomatic engagement to preserve peace and stability.

Both foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on issues of mutual interest.
