Islamabad, June 9, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and regional cooperation while participating in a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The event, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commemorated the Silver Jubilee of the SCO and was attended by resident ambassadors of SCO member states accredited to Pakistan.
As part of the celebrations, Senator Dar joined diplomats in a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the organisation’s milestone anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister said the SCO has evolved into a vital platform for promoting peace, security, economic connectivity, and shared prosperity across the Eurasian region. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among member states to address common challenges and advance regional development.
Senator Dar reiterated Pakistan’s strong support for multilateral engagement and underscored the country’s commitment to playing a constructive role within the SCO framework.
Extending his congratulations to the SCO member states and institutions, he described the 25th anniversary as a significant milestone in the organisation’s journey and expressed confidence that the SCO would continue to contribute to regional stability, economic growth, and deeper cooperation among its members.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, one of the world’s largest regional groupings, brings together countries across Eurasia to promote collaboration in security, trade, connectivity, culture, and sustainable development.
