Islamabad, June 13, 2026: Pakistan and Qatar reaffirmed their close cooperation on regional peace and diplomacy during a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders discussed the evolving situation in the Gulf region and ongoing efforts aimed at securing a lasting peace agreement.

During the warm and cordial conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his greetings and best wishes to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, as well as to the people of Qatar. The Qatari premier reciprocated the sentiments and reaffirmed the strong bonds of friendship between the two brotherly nations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed deep appreciation for Qatar’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s peace initiatives throughout the recent Gulf crisis. He informed the Qatari leader that a peace agreement negotiated through intensive diplomatic engagement was now ready for signatures by the relevant parties and could be finalized shortly.

The Qatari Prime Minister commended Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their instrumental role in advancing dialogue and promoting regional stability.

While acknowledging Pakistan’s leadership in facilitating peace efforts, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani assured the Prime Minister that Qatar was proud to support Islamabad’s endeavors and expressed hope that the emerging agreement would pave the way for lasting peace and security across the region.

The conversation also underscored the strong bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Qatar, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation on matters of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his invitation to the Amir of Qatar to undertake an official visit to Pakistan in the near future, in line with the understanding reached between the two leaders during previous engagements.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days as diplomatic efforts move toward the finalization of the peace process.

The latest exchange reflects Pakistan’s increasingly prominent role in regional diplomacy, with Islamabad working closely with key Gulf partners, including Qatar, to support dialogue, de-escalation and long-term peace in the Middle East.
