Lefkosa, June 15,2026: The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was showcased in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, during the “TRNC Culture Day” event.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Baku Birol Akgün, TRNC Representative to Baku Ufuk Turganer, National Unity Party (UBP) MPs Ahmet Savaşan and Fırtına Karanfil, as well as officials from Türkiye and Azerbaijan, and other distinguished guests.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, Azerbaijani Member of Parliament Javanshir Feyziyev and Chairman of the Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve Board, Rufet Mahmud delivered speeches at the event.
In his address, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel celebrated June 15, National Salvation Day, a symbol of the unity and solidarity of the Azerbaijani people. He expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his support in facilitating the event and thanked to Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov for the hospitality and attention extended throughout the visit.
Prime Minister Üstel also conveyed his appreciation to Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party and Javanshir Feyziyev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group for their valuable contributions to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the TRNC and Azerbaijan.
He concluded his remarks by his heartfelt greetings to the state and people of Azerbaijan.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel met with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov as part of his official visit to Azerbaijan.
The meeting focused on further strengthening the brotherly relations between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Azerbaijan, expanding existing areas of cooperation, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
The two leaders also reviewed recent developments in cultural, political, diplomatic, economic, trade, educational, and tourism relations, and exchanged views on initiatives aimed at further enhancing bilateral cooperation at the institutional level.
