Islamabad, June 16, 2026: Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has extended his best wishes to the people of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijri, praying that the new year brings peace, progress, and prosperity to Pakistan and the entire Muslim world.

In his message, the Speaker said that Muharram-ul-Haram serves as a reminder of the enduring values of patience, sacrifice, righteousness, and the distinction between truth and falsehood. He stated that Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his devoted companions demonstrated unparalleled courage, steadfastness, and sacrifice in the face of oppression and injustice, leaving behind a timeless legacy that continues to inspire humanity.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq remarked that the message of Karbala transcends geographical and religious boundaries and stands as a universal symbol of resistance against tyranny and the triumph of truth and justice. He said that the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) teaches mankind that unwavering commitment to truth is the path to true success.

NA Speaker observed that the advent of the Islamic New Year offers an opportunity for both individual and collective introspection and encourages the promotion of tolerance, brotherhood, mutual respect, and national unity. He paid tribute to the contributions of religious scholars, spiritual leaders, and clerics who continue to play a vital role in fostering interfaith harmony, social cohesion, and peaceful coexistence during Muharram-ul-Haram.

Calling upon religious leaders to further strengthen their efforts for promoting unity and harmony, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the occasion provides an opportunity to renew the collective pledge to serve the nation and contribute towards Pakistan’s development, prosperity, and stability in the light of Islamic teachings.

Referring to the plight of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the oppressed peoples of these regions continue to face injustice, violence, and denial of their fundamental rights. He noted that the lessons of Muharram urge Muslims to stand firmly for justice, support the oppressed, and raise their voices against tyranny. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples and stated that Pakistan would continue to advocate their cause at all international forums.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq further underscored that promoting religious harmony, tolerance, and brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram is a collective responsibility. He prayed that Allah Almighty may grant the Muslim Ummah the wisdom and strength to follow the path of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and bless Pakistan with lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.
