Islamabad, June 16, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Fuel Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to an official statement issued by the Foreign Office, the committee reviewed a number of cases submitted by various ministries and divisions seeking exemptions from the implementation of specific austerity measures introduced by the government.

Following detailed deliberations, the committee finalized its recommendations on the requests in line with the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure prudent resource management, fuel conservation, and fiscal discipline.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Climate Change, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, and the secretaries of Interior and Narcotics Control, Petroleum, Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, and Inter-Provincial Coordination. Senior officials from the relevant ministries and divisions also participated in the proceedings.

The committee’s review forms part of the government’s broader strategy to monitor compliance with austerity measures and evaluate requests for exemptions on a case-by-case basis while maintaining focus on economic efficiency and sustainable resource utilization.
