Islamabad, June 18, 2026: Turkmenistan and Pakistan have discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in higher education, scientific research and academic exchanges, reaffirming their commitment to expanding collaboration in key knowledge-based sectors.

The discussion took place during a meeting in Islamabad between Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, A. Movlamov, and Chairman of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar.

According to details shared after the meeting, both sides reviewed opportunities to deepen cooperation in education, science, human resource development and academic mobility, recognizing the growing importance of these areas in advancing bilateral relations.

The two officials highlighted the significant potential for further expanding Turkmen-Pakistani collaboration across a broad range of sectors, with particular emphasis on strengthening institutional linkages between universities and research centers in both countries.

During the meeting, special attention was given to promoting partnerships between higher education institutions, facilitating the exchange of students, researchers and scholars, and encouraging joint educational and scientific initiatives.

The discussions also focused on creating new opportunities for academic cooperation, knowledge-sharing and research collaboration aimed at addressing common development challenges and enhancing educational standards.

Both sides agreed that increased interaction between universities and academic institutions would contribute to stronger people-to-people ties and foster greater understanding between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Movlamov and HEC Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular dialogue and advancing mutually beneficial projects designed to strengthen educational, scientific and cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.

The meeting reflects the growing momentum in bilateral relations and underscores the importance both countries place on education and research as key pillars of long-term partnership and sustainable development.
