Islamabad, June 18, 2026: Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Emmanuel R. Fernandez welcomed a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Pakistan Resident Mission during a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, where both sides discussed areas of mutual interest and opportunities for enhanced cooperation.
The ADB delegation was led by Deputy Country Director Syed Hussain Haider and Associate Logistics Management Officer Mohammad Tarif Khan. They were received by Ambassador Fernandez along with Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rain R. Mendoza and Consular Assistant Richelle Carlo L. Villaflor.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on regional development priorities, bilateral engagement and avenues for strengthening cooperation between the Philippines and Pakistan.
The discussions highlighted the Philippines’ longstanding partnership with the Asian Development Bank and acknowledged the institution’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s development through its support for infrastructure, economic growth, governance and social sector initiatives.
Both sides also underscored the importance of the strong people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Pakistan, noting that educational, professional and cultural exchanges continue to serve as an important bridge between the two countries.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore areas where closer collaboration could contribute to regional development objectives and strengthen mutual understanding.
Ambassador Fernandez appreciated the ADB’s role in supporting sustainable development across Asia and reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to working with regional partners and international institutions to promote inclusive growth and prosperity.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to continued engagement and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and partnership in advancing shared development goals and fostering stronger bilateral and regional relations
