Islamabad, June 30, 2026: Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the full and effective implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) during a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Foreign Office, Ambassador Amna Baloch underscored Pakistan’s continued commitment to the objectives of the Convention and reiterated the country’s support for global efforts aimed at chemical disarmament and the peaceful use of chemistry.

Earlier, Additional Foreign Secretary and Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, its broader priorities in disarmament and non-proliferation, and its constructive engagement within the OPCW.

The visiting delegation comprises 19 experts and representatives from 16 countries participating in the Forum on the Peaceful Uses of Chemistry, being held in Islamabad from June 30 to July 2, 2026.

Jointly organized by Pakistan and the OPCW under Article XI of the Chemical Weapons Convention, the forum brings together international experts and regional delegates to promote cooperation on chemical safety and security, integrated chemicals management, responsible conduct in science, and the peaceful applications of chemistry.

The event reflects Pakistan’s continued engagement with the international community in advancing the peaceful use of chemical sciences while strengthening global cooperation on chemical safety, security, and non-proliferation.
