Islamabad, July 1, 2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) following the successful completion of the association’s elections.

In a statement issued by the Senate Secretariat on Wednesday, Gilani congratulated Abu Bakar Bin Talat on his re-election as President for a second consecutive term, Ambreen Ali on her election as General Secretary, Nasir Abbas Naqvi as Finance Secretary, and all other elected members of the Governing Body.

He extended his best wishes to the new leadership and expressed confidence that they would further promote professionalism, transparency, unity, and the highest standards of sports journalism.

The Senate Chairman said sports journalism plays a vital role in promoting sports, encouraging youth participation in healthy and constructive activities, and projecting a positive image of Pakistan.

He emphasized that responsible and professional sports journalism contributes significantly to the development of sports while fostering national unity and social cohesion.

Gilani expressed hope that the newly elected RISJA leadership would work diligently to safeguard the rights and welfare of sports journalists, promote professional excellence and ethical journalism, and further strengthen the association as an active, dynamic, and respected platform for the sports media community.
