Islamabad, July 2, 2026: Qatari and Pakistani mediators held separate meetings with US and Iranian negotiators in Doha on Thursday, with the discussions reportedly making “positive progress” on issues linked to various aspects of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the latest round of contacts built on the outcomes of the Lake Lucerne Summit and focused on advancing understandings reached in earlier engagements.
The statement said the parties had agreed to continue discussions in the coming period, signaling cautious momentum in the diplomatic process.
It added that the next round of talks would be scheduled at the earliest possible time after the completion of the funeral processions of Iran’s former Supreme Leader.
The development underscores continued efforts by Pakistan and Qatar to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Tehran at a time of heightened regional sensitivity and evolving diplomatic engagement.
