Rawalpindi, July 7, 2026: Pakistan’s armed forces on Tuesday paid solemn tribute to Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his martyrdom anniversary, honouring his extraordinary courage, unwavering devotion and supreme sacrifice during the Kargil conflict.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, joined the armed forces in commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of the national hero.

The ISPR said Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed displayed exceptional gallantry and steadfast resolve on this day in 1999 while defending his post against relentless enemy attacks during the Kargil conflict. Despite sustaining critical injuries, he refused evacuation and continued to fight with unwavering determination until he embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.

Describing his sacrifice as an enduring symbol of courage, resilience and selfless service, the military’s media wing said the armed forces and the nation honour his legacy with profound respect and gratitude.

It added that Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed’s life and sacrifice continue to inspire present and future generations to uphold the highest ideals of duty, honour and patriotism.

The armed forces and the people of Pakistan, the ISPR said, reaffirm their unwavering commitment to preserving the sacred trust of Shuhada-e-Pakistan and defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity with the same spirit of courage, dedication and honour.
