Islamabad, July 23, 2026: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lieutenant General (Retired) Nazir Ahmed on Thursday urged senior civil servants to uphold the highest standards of integrity, reject corruption in all its forms, and remain committed to safeguarding public assets and strengthening governance.
He made the remarks while addressing participants of the 3rd Senior Management Course from the Sindh Provincial Civil Service during their visit to NAB Headquarters in Islamabad.
Welcoming the delegation, the NAB chairman stressed that honesty, strong moral character and professional competence were essential qualities for effective public service. He encouraged the officers to surpass previous generations in integrity and ethical conduct, emphasizing that capacity-building and character development were indispensable for national progress.
Calling for a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, Nazir Ahmed urged the officers to reject dishonest practices, promote transparency and accountability, and perform their official responsibilities with dedication and sincerity. He reiterated NAB’s commitment to eliminating corruption and ensuring the protection of state assets.
Earlier, Director General (Operations) Amjad Majeed Aulakh gave the delegation a detailed briefing on the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) 1999, NAB’s organizational structure, institutional reforms, anti-money laundering investigations, international cooperation, and the bureau’s overall performance.
Highlighting NAB’s recent achievements, Aulakh said the bureau had recovered assets worth Rs14.485 trillion (approximately US$51.73 billion) over the past three years. He said the bureau’s current priorities include recovering state land and public assets, pursuing cases involving fraud against the public, and investigating offences under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA).
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which the visiting officers discussed administrative and anti-corruption issues with the NAB chairman and the director general (operations). The visit ended with a souvenir exchange and a group photograph.
