Rawalpindi, July 25, 2026: Pakistan’s security forces on Saturday foiled an attempted terrorist attack on a security check post in South Waziristan district, killing four militants, including a suicide bomber, during a coordinated response, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants belonging to what it described as the “Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij” attempted to attack the security forces’ check post on July 25.
The ISPR said the attackers sought to breach the post’s defences, but security personnel responded swiftly, preventing the assault from succeeding.
During the operation, security forces successfully engaged and destroyed an explosive-laden vehicle outside the perimeter of the check post, killing the suicide bomber before the vehicle could cause any damage.
The remaining three attackers fled into a nearby compound after coming under fire. Security forces subsequently launched a deliberate clearance operation, killing all three militants without suffering any casualties.
A sanitisation operation is underway to ensure no other militants remain in the area, the ISPR added.
The military said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue nationwide counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eliminate what it termed foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
