Rawalpindi, August 1, 2026: A Pakistan Army officer embraced martyrdom while five terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out by security forces in North Waziristan on Friday, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted in the Razmak area of North Waziristan district following intelligence reports about the presence of militants belonging to what it described as the Indian proxy Fitna Al Khwarij.
The ISPR said security forces effectively engaged the militants during the operation, killing five terrorists.
However, during the intense exchange of fire, Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi, 34, a resident of Mianwali district, embraced martyrdom while leading his troops from the front.
The military described Major Ihsan as a courageous officer who fought gallantly and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the slain militants, who, according to the ISPR, had been actively involved in numerous terrorist attacks against security forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians.
The military said a sanitisation operation was continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists.
Reaffirming its resolve to eradicate militancy, the ISPR said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their nationwide counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
The statement added that the sacrifices of the country’s security personnel further strengthened Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism and safeguarding the nation at all costs.
