Islamabad, August 4, 2026: The United Kingdom has opened applications for three flagship programmes aimed at helping Pakistan’s emerging leaders, researchers and entrepreneurs gain access to world-class education, strengthen professional networks and develop innovative ideas through fully funded opportunities in the UK.
The programmes include the Chevening Scholarships, the Chevening Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Fellowship and the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship. The initiatives are designed to support future leaders by providing advanced academic, research and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Chevening Scholarships offer fully funded one-year master’s degrees at leading UK universities for individuals who demonstrate leadership potential, influence and a clear vision for creating positive impact. The Chevening Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Fellowship enables mid-career academics and professionals to undertake independent research at the University of Oxford, while the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship supports high-potential entrepreneurs in strengthening their businesses, learning from UK experts and preparing to scale their ventures internationally.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, said Pakistan possesses exceptional talent and that the programmes would help outstanding Pakistanis develop the skills, international networks and ideas required to lead institutions, expand businesses and address global challenges.
Applicants have been advised to base their submissions on their own experiences, ambitions and ideas, and have been warned not to use AI-generated responses. According to the announcement, applicants found to have submitted AI-generated answers may be disqualified from the selection process.
All three programmes provide comprehensive financial support, including international airfare, tuition or programme fees, visa costs and living stipends.
Beyond academic and professional development, participants will have the opportunity to build international networks, experience different cultures and establish lasting connections with the UK and fellow leaders from around the world.
According to the British High Commission, more than 2,000 Chevening alumni in Pakistan are serving in public service, business, academia, media and civil society, contributing to the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and the UK. Globally, the Chevening network includes more than 20 current or former heads of state or government.
Applications for Chevening Scholarships are now open and will remain open until October 6, 2026. Applications for the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship are open from August 3 to September 1, 2026.
Prospective applicants can submit applications for the Chevening Scholarships through Chevening Apply, while applications for the Chevening Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Fellowship can be submitted through Chevening OCIS Fellowship.
