Dambulla, August 4, 2026: Pakistan Women defeated Sri Lanka Women by four wickets in the third and final T20 International at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday to avoid a series whitewash, although the hosts claimed the three-match series 2-1.
After electing to bat first, Sri Lanka were restricted to 113-6 in their allotted 20 overs as Pakistan’s bowlers produced a disciplined performance.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu top-scored with 34 off 33 balls, striking five boundaries, while Sanjana Kavindi contributed 20 from 18 deliveries with two fours.
Opener Imesha Dulani scored 17 off 17 balls, including two boundaries, while Kavisha Dilhari and Kaushini Nuthyangana chipped in with 12 runs each. Kawya Kavindi remained unbeaten on 10, while Harshitha Samarawickrama managed only three runs and Hasini Perera was dismissed without scoring.
Momina Riasat was Pakistan’s most successful bowler, returning figures of 2-18 in her four overs. Umm-e-Hani, Nashra Sandhu, Tuba Hassan and Ayesha Zafar claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Pakistan chased down the 114-run target in 18.2 overs with six wickets down.
Ayesha Zafar led the chase with a match-winning 39 off 31 deliveries, hitting six boundaries. Opener Shawaal Zulfiqar provided an explosive start with 21 from just 12 balls, including three fours and a six.
Captain Muneeba Ali also played a useful innings of 19 off 16 balls, striking four boundaries to keep Pakistan on track for victory.
For Sri Lanka, Chamari Athapaththu completed an impressive all-round performance by taking 2-20 from four overs. Kavisha Dilhari also claimed two wickets, while Nimasha Meepage picked up one dismissal.
Despite the defeat in the final match, Sri Lanka secured the three-match T20I series 2-1 after winning the opening two encounters.
