Islamabad, August 4, 2026: Secretary-General of the International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC), Sitara Ayaz, visited the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and regional engagement.

During the meeting, Senator Sitara Ayaz held detailed discussions with Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, A. Movlamov, on advancing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Parliamentarians Congress.

The two sides reviewed opportunities to enhance inter-parliamentary engagement, expand dialogue among lawmakers across the region and strengthen institutional cooperation between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the IPC.

They also discussed the possibility of jointly organising international conferences, roundtable discussions and parliamentary forums involving legislators from Central Asian countries.

The participants noted that such initiatives could serve as an effective platform for promoting parliamentary diplomacy, exchanging legislative best practices and developing coordinated responses to regional and global challenges.

Ambassador Movlamov expressed support for strengthening ties between the parliaments of Turkmenistan and Pakistan, while Senator Sitara Ayaz appreciated Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality and thanked the ambassador for the constructive and productive dialogue.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular engagement and enhancing cooperation through joint initiatives aimed at promoting stronger inter-parliamentary relations, regional partnership and greater interaction among legislators.
