Washington, August 5, 2026: Pakistan and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral counterterrorism cooperation, pledging to enhance collaboration against terrorist groups threatening regional and international security.
The commitment came during the Fourth Pakistan-U.S. Counterterrorism Dialogue, held in Washington, D.C., on August 4. The Pakistani delegation was led by Special Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Nabeel Munir, while the U.S. side was headed by Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Gregory LoGerfo.
According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of the longstanding Pakistan-U.S. counterterrorism partnership and reiterated their shared determination to confront terrorism in all its forms.
During the dialogue, the two delegations exchanged assessments of the evolving terrorist threat environment, explored opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation, and discussed measures to strengthen border security and disrupt terrorist facilitation networks.
Pakistan and the United States reaffirmed their joint resolve to combat terrorist organisations that threaten the safety of their citizens and regional stability, including ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K), Al-Qa’ida (AQ), the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its affiliated groups.
The two governments also committed to further enhancing counterterrorism collaboration to safeguard their respective nations while advancing their shared vision of regional peace, prosperity and stability.
