Islamabad, August 5, 2026: Pakistan on Wednesday solemnly observed Youm-e-Istehsal, marking the seventh anniversary of India’s actions of August 5, 2019, which Islamabad says were aimed at altering the internationally recognised disputed status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan paid tribute to the courage, resilience and steadfastness of the people of IIOJK and reaffirmed its unwavering support for their struggle for the right to self-determination.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan remains firmly committed to supporting the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
The statement reiterated Pakistan’s position that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be allowed to exercise their right to self-determination as guaranteed under the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, while reaffirming the country’s continued diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people.
