Kabul, August 5, 2026: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul on Wednesday observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic, political and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and reiterating its commitment to raising the Kashmir issue at every international forum.

Addressing the ceremony, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, said Pakistan’s steadfast support for the just cause of the Kashmiri people remains a cornerstone of the country’s foreign policy.

He said Pakistan remains undeterred in its efforts to safeguard the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people and will continue to advocate their cause at regional and international forums.

The ambassador said India had failed to secure either domestic or international legitimacy for its unilateral and illegal actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He added that despite continued restrictions and what he described as attempts to alter the demographic composition of the occupied territory, the Kashmiri people remained steadfast in their struggle for their internationally recognized right to self-determination.

Ambassador Nizamani said the unity and resilience demonstrated by Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control send a clear message that they will continue their struggle until their legitimate rights are realized. He maintained that coercive measures and restrictive policies would only strengthen the resolve of the Kashmiri people.

During the ceremony, messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were also read out, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The event also featured the screening of a documentary highlighting India’s actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the humanitarian situation in the disputed territory following August 5, 2019.

Pakistan observes Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir every year on August 5 to mark the anniversary of India’s unilateral actions of 2019, which Islamabad says altered the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir in violation of international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
