Islamabad, August 10, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and exchanged views on regional and international developments, with particular focus on the evolving situation in the region and efforts to promote peace and stability.
During the telephone conversation, Dar briefed his Iranian counterpart on the contours of the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
He underscored that the agreement seeks to strengthen strategic cooperation among the three countries and contribute to regional peace, security and stability. Foreign Minister Araghchi thanked Dar for sharing the key aspects and objectives of the agreement.
The two foreign ministers also discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on regional and international developments. The conversation comes as Pakistan continues its diplomatic engagement with regional countries following the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in Makkah on August 7.
