Islamabad, August 19, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received United Nations Resident Coordinator in Pakistan Mohamed Yahya for a farewell meeting on Wednesday, appreciating his contributions to strengthening Pakistan-UN cooperation.
During the meeting, Dar acknowledged the work of the UN Country Team under Yahya’s leadership and congratulated him on his appointment as Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The deputy prime minister expressed appreciation for Yahya’s efforts during his tenure in Pakistan and his contribution to strengthening cooperation between the country and the United Nations.
Yahya thanked Dar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their support and cooperation during his assignment in Pakistan. He also expressed his desire to continue working closely with Pakistan in his new role at the United Nations.
The meeting highlighted the close partnership between Pakistan and the UN and the importance of continued cooperation on humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest.
