Islamabad, August 27, 2026: Grand Imam of Lahore’s Badshahi Mosque Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad met Netherlands Ambassador to Pakistan Robert-Jan Siegert at the ambassador’s residence in Islamabad, with discussions focusing on interfaith harmony, religious freedom and mutual respect.
The meeting featured a meaningful exchange on the importance of interfaith and intra-faith dialogue, tolerance and human dignity, according to a statement issued after the meeting.
The two sides discussed the need to promote greater understanding and respect among different faiths and communities, particularly amid growing global challenges to social cohesion.
They also emphasised the importance of promoting Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) and fostering an environment in which people of all faiths can practise their beliefs freely and with dignity.
The engagement underscored the shared importance of dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect in strengthening peaceful coexistence and promoting harmony among communities.
