Islamabad, September 11, 2026: Ambassador of Cuba to Pakistan, Damain Cordero met with a delegation of the Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, led by Vice President Arshid Malik, to discuss humanitarian assistance, healthcare cooperation and challenges facing Cuba’s health sector.
Members of the Pakistani Cuban Doctors Association (PCDA), also known as the Association of Pakistani Doctors Graduates in Cuba, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Alkhidmat Foundation delegation briefed the Cuban ambassador on the organization’s humanitarian activities in Pakistan and abroad. The foundation works in several areas, including disaster management, healthcare and medical services.
Ambassador Cordero briefed the participants on the challenges confronting Cuba, particularly the impact of the long-standing US blockade, energy-related difficulties and what he described as continuing military threats from the US government.
He highlighted the impact of these challenges on Cuba’s healthcare system and the delivery of medical services to its population.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on humanitarian assistance, healthcare cooperation and the role of non-governmental organizations and medical professionals in supporting communities.
