Islamabad, September 29, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy to review progress on the Prime Minister’s Special Fuel Relief Scheme following his return from New York.
The meeting reviewed progress on registration, token redemption, payments and complaint management.
The committee was informed that around 7.6 million registrations had been successfully completed so far, while the token redemption process had entered its second week. A total of 7.71 million tokens have been redeemed to date.
Ishaq Dar appreciated the progress made under the scheme and said its implementation reflected a “whole of Government” approach, with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Petroleum, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), State Bank of Pakistan and provincial governments making concerted efforts.
The deputy prime minister stressed the need for continued coordination among the relevant institutions to facilitate beneficiaries and ensure smooth service delivery across the country.
The meeting was attended by the federal ministers for IT and Telecommunication and Information and Broadcasting, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, federal and provincial secretaries, and officials from the State Bank of Pakistan, OGRA, National Information Technology Board (NITB) and Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA).
