Islamabad, November 26, 2024-The federal government has officially announced that no negotiations will take place with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, declaring that their protest actions have reached a point beyond discussion.
In a joint press conference at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information Minister Ata Tarar informed the media that not only had the protesters been cleared from the area, but they had also been pushed back by two intersections.
Interior Minister Naqvi emphasized that the government had observed the nature of the protesters’ actions, stating, “We have seen who came with the protest caravans and how they behaved. Peaceful protesters were there, but some tried to instigate violence to cause fatalities. We made the decision to clear the area without any loss of life.”
Naqvi made it clear that no negotiations would take place with PTI. “They have come, and now there will be no negotiations,” he stated. “We have decided firmly that there will be no talks with those holding the sit-in.”
Minister Naqvi further accused a woman of being responsible for the unrest, suggesting she was behind the disturbances, and stated that the government would take action against her if necessary.
Information Minister Ata Tarar also addressed the press, showing marbles and shells allegedly thrown by the protesters using slingshots. He criticized the use of children in the protests, claiming that the “poor children were used as shields.”
Ata Tarar proudly stated that the government had successfully pushed the protesters back to two intersections and rejected any claims of them having an advantage. He also questioned who had brought Afghan nationals into the protest, accusing them of participating in the unrest under the guise of party membership.
The information minister further claimed that the government had restored the rule of law, stating that only a few individuals, including a laborer from Swat and a 16-year-old Afghan child, were involved. “The state’s authority is intact, and we’ve cleared the area,” he affirmed.
Minister Tarar also criticized Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, challenging her to take a leadership role and confront the government. He accused PTI of bringing bloodshed and chaos and warned that no negotiations would be held. He stressed that cases against PTI were already in court, and the government would not offer any deals or concessions.
He concluded by stating that the state’s patience should not be tested and issued a direct challenge to PTI and its leadership, saying, “If you come forward, we are ready and will respond with full force.”
