Lahore, November 27, 2024- An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has denied bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in eight cases linked to the May 9 violence, including the attack on Jinnah House.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul announced the reserved verdict, rejecting the bail pleas of the former prime minister, who has been held at Adiala Jail since August last year. The cases involve charges of arson, vandalism, and attacks on public and police properties, including incidents at Jinnah House, Askari Tower, Shadman police station, and Rahat Bakery Chowk.

Earlier in November, the Rawalpindi ATC granted a five-day physical remand of Imran Khan in another vandalism case. His arrest in this case came just hours after the Islamabad High Court granted him bail in the Toshakhana case related to the alleged illegal sale of state gifts.

The May 9, 2023 protests erupted following Imran Khan’s arrest and led to widespread violence, including attacks on military installations like the Corps Commander House in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House. The federal government recently released CCTV footage purportedly showing PTI supporters involved in vandalism during the unrest.
