Kabul, October 27,2026: Pakistan’s Embassy in Kabul observed Jammu and Kashmir Black Day on Tuesday, marking 79 years since Indian forces landed in Srinagar on October 27, 1947, an event that marked the beginning of a prolonged conflict over the disputed territory.

Embassy officers and staff gathered to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and highlight their continued struggle for fundamental rights and self-determination.

Speakers highlighted the suffering of the Kashmiri people, particularly following India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019. They also drew attention to the continued detention of Kashmiri political leaders and human rights defenders, calling for sustained international attention to the situation.

The participants reiterated Pakistan’s position that lasting peace and stability in South Asia depended on a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

They paid tribute to the sacrifices of Kashmiri men, women and children in their pursuit of the right to self-determination, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic and political support for their cause.

Messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar were also read out during the ceremony.

A documentary highlighting alleged human rights violations by Indian government and security forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir was screened on the occasion.
