Lahore, November 1,2026: Pakistan’s left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman equalled the long-standing record of batting great Saeed Anwar by scoring his second century in an ODI tournament final during Saturday’s tri-series final against Sri Lanka at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Chasing a daunting 326-run target, Fakhar led Pakistan’s batting charge with a magnificent 127 off 99 deliveries, including 11 fours and six sixes.
The opener brought up his 12th ODI century in just 84 balls, once again demonstrating his ability to deliver on major occasions. He was eventually dismissed by Dilshan Madushanka in the 34th over.
The century was Fakhar’s second in an ODI tournament final. His first came against arch-rivals India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at The Oval in London.
With this achievement, Fakhar equalled Saeed Anwar’s record for the most centuries by a Pakistani batter in ODI tournament finals.
Anwar had set the benchmark with centuries against Sri Lanka in the 1993 Wills Trophy final and against India during the 1998 Silver Jubilee Independence Cup.
Fakhar’s impressive knock also took his ODI career tally beyond the 4,000-run milestone, making him only the 16th Pakistani batter to achieve the feat.
He joined an elite list featuring batting legends such as Inzamam-ul-Haq, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan and Saeed Anwar.
Fakhar has now scored 4,019 runs in 96 ODI innings at an average of 44.65 and a strike rate of 93.57. His record in the format also includes 12 centuries and 19 half-centuries.
