Hong Kong, November 1,2026: Pakistan defeated Oman by 18 runs in the Plate final of the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 to claim the second-tier title at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Sunday, after failing to defend their main championship crown.

Batting first, Pakistan posted an imposing 154-4 in their allotted six overs, powered by a sensational innings from captain Abbas Afridi, who smashed 73 off just 16 deliveries, including one four and 11 sixes.

Abdul Samad provided further fireworks with 26 off five balls, featuring two fours and three sixes, while Ahmed Daniyal contributed a quickfire 25 off five deliveries, including four sixes.

Muhammad Shahzad added 13 off four balls, striking two sixes, while Khawaja Nafay scored seven off three deliveries, including a six. Irfan Niazi was dismissed for a first-ball duck.

In reply, Oman managed 136-4 in their six overs despite a formidable opening partnership between Usman Ali and Zohaib Amanat.

Usman led the chase with a blistering 67 off 17 deliveries, striking four fours and eight sixes, while Amanat smashed 61 off 18 balls, including four boundaries and eight sixes.

Oman captain Aamir Kaleem was run out for a duck by Ahmed Daniyal, while the remaining batters struggled to contribute as the side finished 18 runs short of the target.

During the innings, Sami Hassan, Shafiq Jan and Muzahir Khan were retired out in an effort to keep the leading batters at the crease, with Usman later returning to bat.

Despite securing the Plate championship, Pakistan finished fifth overall in the tournament after missing out on a place in the main trophy competition.

The six-time champions began their campaign with a defeat against the UAE in their Group C opener. Batting first, Pakistan scored 106-3, with Abbas Afridi leading the innings with a blistering 53 off 13 deliveries, including eight sixes.

The UAE chased down the 107-run target comfortably, thanks to a magnificent 71 off 20 balls from captain Khalid Shah, who struck three fours and nine sixes.

Pakistan bounced back in their second Group C fixture with a convincing victory over arch-rivals India.

India posted 88-5 in their six overs, but Pakistan chased down the target in just 3.5 overs, losing only two wickets.

Khawaja Nafay spearheaded the chase with an explosive 41 off 12 deliveries, featuring two fours and five sixes, while Abbas Afridi remained unbeaten on 35 off just eight balls, including one four and five sixes.

However, Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the main trophy competition ended when the UAE defeated India to secure their second Group C victory and qualify for the next stage, leaving Pakistan in the Plate competition.

Pakistan subsequently faced hosts Hong Kong in the Plate semi-final and registered a comprehensive victory, chasing down the 107-run target without losing a wicket.

Abbas Afridi once again starred, smashing an unbeaten 55 off just 13 deliveries, including three fours and seven sixes, to guide Pakistan into the Plate final, where they eventually defeated Oman to secure the title.
