Islamabad, November 5,2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to cancel the licences of petrol pumps that fail to facilitate registered beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Programme.
Chairing a meeting to review progress on the programme, the prime minister expressed satisfaction over its implementation and transparency, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
“Simplifying the registration and subsidy disbursement procedures has led to an increase in registrations, enabling more deserving citizens to benefit from the facility,” the prime minister said.
He described the technology-driven and transparent subsidy scheme as a potential “game changer” for similar public welfare initiatives in the future.
The meeting was informed that 15,519,282 citizens had registered under the scheme so far, including 15.06 million motorcycle owners and 449,000 owners of vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.
A total of 63,153,685 fuel tokens had been issued, of which 59,445,347 had been utilised.
The briefing further revealed that Rs28.6 billion had been disbursed under the fuel subsidy programme as of November 4, 2026.
The prime minister appreciated Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima, Federal Secretary Zarar Hashim Khan and their team for developing an effective monitoring and dashboard system to ensure transparency and efficient implementation of the programme.
The meeting was also informed that separate call centres had been established for consumers and petrol pumps to provide information about the scheme and address complaints.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the relief initiative in September for owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.
Under the scheme, owners of two- and three-wheeled vehicles are entitled to a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on a monthly fuel quota of 20 litres.
Similarly, owners of vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc are eligible for the same subsidy on a monthly quota of 30 litres.
The latest directive aims to ensure that registered beneficiaries receive their entitled fuel subsidy without discrimination or unnecessary hurdles at petrol pumps.
