Islamabad, November 6,2026: Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir has appreciated the initiatives being undertaken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the development and prosperity of Balochistan, saying that the province’s vast natural resources, mineral wealth and agricultural potential could transform its economic landscape if effectively utilised.

He said the prime minister was committed to eliminating backwardness in Balochistan and providing its people with equal opportunities for progress and prosperity.

He expressed these views during a meeting with former Punjab Chief Minister and senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House.

The meeting discussed the overall political situation, national and parliamentary affairs, development initiatives for Balochistan, economic challenges, youth employment and government measures aimed at national prosperity.

Syedal Khan Nasir paid tribute to Hamza Shehbaz for his political contributions, public service and longstanding commitment to democratic and parliamentary politics.

He appreciated his experience and performance during his tenure as Punjab chief minister and expressed confidence that his newly assigned federal responsibility would help strengthen coordination among the government, parliamentarians and political stakeholders.

He said effective coordination and consultation were essential for improving governance and addressing public issues.

The Deputy Chairman Senate particularly appreciated the establishment of Danish Schools in different districts of Balochistan, describing the initiative as an important step towards providing quality education to children from underprivileged and remote areas.

He said these institutions would help reduce educational disparities, empower young people and enable them to contribute effectively to national development.

Highlighting agriculture as a major pillar of Balochistan’s economy, he appreciated the provincial government’s Green Tractor Scheme, which provides farmers with a 50 per cent subsidy to facilitate agricultural mechanisation and improve productivity.

He also recalled previous federal and provincial initiatives for the welfare of farmers in Balochistan, saying that such measures were important for strengthening rural livelihoods and supporting the agricultural economy.

Syedal Khan Nasir also appreciated federal government initiatives to create employment opportunities for educated and talented young people from Balochistan through dedicated recruitment opportunities and provincial quota-based vacancies in federal institutions.

He said greater representation of the province’s youth in federal institutions was essential for their economic empowerment and integration into the national mainstream.

He stressed that providing meaningful employment opportunities would enable young people to contribute to the country’s progress while addressing regional disparities.

The Deputy Chairman Senate also welcomed the Prime Minister’s Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Programme, titled “Ghar Ho Tu Apna”, aimed at helping low- and middle-income families own homes through affordable housing finance.

He highlighted the programme’s provision of housing loans of up to Rs10 million at a subsidised markup rate of five per cent for the first ten years, with a repayment period of up to 20 years.

He said the initiative would benefit deserving families, including those in Balochistan, while stimulating economic activity, strengthening the construction industry and generating employment opportunities.

Discussing the role of traders and entrepreneurs in economic development, Syedal Khan Nasir appreciated government efforts to facilitate businesses, encourage investment and improve the overall business environment.

He said the business community was an important partner in national economic growth and stressed the need to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises, support local businesses and attract investment, particularly in Balochistan.

He observed that the province’s untapped mineral and natural resources offered significant opportunities for industrialisation, investment and employment generation.

He emphasised that their effective utilisation in line with modern requirements could open new avenues of economic development and improve living standards.

The Deputy Chairman Senate also appreciated government efforts under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to promote national development, economic stability and international engagement.

He highlighted the importance of coordination between the political and military leadership in safeguarding national interests, strengthening national security and promoting economic and strategic cooperation with friendly countries.

He appreciated the joint efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in pursuing national objectives.

Syedal Khan Nasir said continued attention to education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment and other basic facilities was essential for Balochistan’s inclusive development. He also called for further relief and facilitation for the province’s farmers, traders and business community.

He stressed that addressing national challenges required collective efforts, political understanding and a shared commitment to placing national interests above political affiliations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Syedal Khan Nasir’s efforts in advancing the PML-N government’s development agenda and strengthening parliamentary democracy.

He acknowledged the Deputy Chairman Senate’s contribution to promoting legislation aimed at facilitating the people of Pakistan and appreciated his efforts to strengthen constitutional institutions, improve the legislative process and enhance public participation in parliamentary democracy.

The meeting underscored the importance of continued engagement among political leaders to strengthen democratic institutions, enhance Parliament’s role, promote political reconciliation and advance national unity.
