Islamabad, November 8,2026: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Punjab Ameer Dr. Tariq Saleem has said that the philosophy and teachings of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, particularly his message of Khudi (selfhood) and vision for Pakistan, remain a guiding light for the nation, especially its younger generation.
In his message on Iqbal Day, Dr. Tariq Saleem said the occasion provided an opportunity to renew the national commitment to transforming Pakistan into a sovereign, Islamic, democratic and welfare state.
He said Allama Iqbal inspired the Muslims of the subcontinent with the ideals of selfhood, freedom, unity, self-confidence and intellectual awakening. Through the symbolism of the Shaheen (falcon), Iqbal encouraged young people to pursue lofty ambitions, demonstrate courage and perseverance, recognise their potential and contribute actively to national development.
The JI Punjab chief said Iqbal’s vision of Pakistan extended beyond the establishment of a separate geographical homeland. He envisioned a society guided by the Quran and Sunnah, where justice and equality prevailed, the rule of law was upheld, economic exploitation was eliminated, and every citizen enjoyed dignity, equal opportunities and fundamental rights.
Highlighting the challenges facing the country, Dr. Tariq Saleem referred to political instability, economic hardship, corruption, class divisions and public deprivation. He stressed the need to draw practical guidance from Iqbal’s philosophy to strengthen national sovereignty, promote collective responsibility, build character and establish a genuine democratic and welfare-oriented system.
He emphasised that Iqbal Day should not be limited to ceremonial events and formal tributes. Instead, the nation must incorporate Iqbal’s teachings into its individual and collective lives.
He said translating Iqbal’s vision into practical action would be the most meaningful tribute to the Poet of the East and an important step towards a brighter and more prosperous Pakistan.
