Lahore, December 6, 2024: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism, highlighting the heavy toll it has taken on Pakistan, with 80,000 lives lost and billions of dollars in economic damage. Addressing the closing ceremony of the seventh Maritime Security Workshop at the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore, he stressed the importance of maintaining law and order. PM Shehbaz also lauded the sacrifices of the armed forces, praised Pakistan Navy’s capabilities, and emphasized the potential of the blue economy for national development, especially with China’s support for maritime projects like Gwadar Port.
He further underscored that Pakistan’s security and prosperity are closely linked to harnessing its maritime resources. The Prime Minister noted that the government’s focus on the blue economy, including fully operationalizing Gwadar Port, would contribute significantly to economic growth. This, combined with China’s cooperation, will enhance Pakistan’s strategic position and ensure long-term development, particularly in coastal and maritime sectors.
