Islamabad, December 22, 2024: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources have confirmed that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with UAE Cricket Board Chief Sheikh Al Nahyan last night to finalize Dubai Stadium as the neutral venue for the ICC Champions Trophy under the hybrid model.
During the meeting, discussions focused on simplifying visa processes for Pakistani fans and addressing logistical concerns in collaboration with the ICC and PCB. Sheikh Al Nahyan assured his full support for these efforts. Earlier, the PCB had considered alternative venues in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Colombo, Sri Lanka, but logistical challenges ultimately made the UAE the preferred choice. Sheikh Al Nahyan, currently visiting the Ghotki district of Sindh, provided assurances of cooperation.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi hinted at significant updates for Karachi while inspecting ongoing renovation work at the National Bank Stadium.
Addressing the media, Naqvi also discussed a three-year agreement for Pakistan’s cricket team to play against India at neutral venues. While this arrangement is in place for now, he noted that its continuation would depend on decisions by the future PCB administration.
