2nd Test: South Africa sets massive total, Pakistan faces challenges in the first innings.

Cape Town, January 4, 2025: Pakistan ended the second day of the second Test against South Africa with 64 runs on the scoreboard, losing 3 wickets. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan remain at the crease, still needing to recover a deficit of 551 runs. Earlier, South Africa were bowled out for 615 in their first innings, with Ryan Rickelton scoring a remarkable 259 runs.

South Africa resumed their innings on the second day with a score of 316/4. Rickelton, who had played a brilliant knock of 259, was dismissed by Mir Hamza. Other significant contributions came from Kyle Verreynne (100), Marco Jansen (62), Keshav Maharaj (40), David Bedingham (5), and Quinton de Kock (0). Kagiso Rabada remained not out on 6.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas and Salman Agha claimed 3 wickets each, while Mir Hamza and Khurram Shehzad took 2 wickets apiece.

Pakistan’s response got off to a poor start, with three wickets falling for just 20 runs. Captain Shan Masood was dismissed for 2, Kamran Ghulam for 12, and Saud Shakeel for a duck. At the close of play, Babar Azam was on 31, with Mohammad Rizwan on 9. Pakistan still trails by 551 runs.
