Lakki Marwat, January 9, 2025: A joint intelligence-based operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police in Lakki Marwat led to the elimination of three high-profile terrorists on Thursday, according to CTD officials.

The operation was conducted near Malang Adda on Tajori Road Canal, within the jurisdiction of Gumbela Police Station.

The law enforcement agencies engaged in a fierce gun battle with the terrorists, which lasted approximately 30 minutes. After the exchange of fire, a search operation was carried out, during which three terrorists were found dead. Their accomplices, however, managed to escape. Notably, no police personnel were injured during the encounter.

The slain terrorists, identified as Shafiq Nawaz, Gard Muhammad Mujahid (alias Jahadiyar), and Fida-ur-Rehman (alias Anas alias Gul), were affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Tipu Gul group. They were wanted for multiple charges, including attacks on security forces, facilitating terrorist activities, reconnaissance, and targeted killings.

Weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, and night vision equipment were recovered from the terrorists’ possession. The CTD spokesperson highlighted the significance of the operation, describing it as a major blow to the TTP network in the region.

A case has been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act at the CTD Bannu, and further investigations are underway. Efforts to apprehend the accomplices who fled the scene are ongoing.

This operation comes amidst increased security challenges in Lakki Marwat, a district that has witnessed heightened militant activity in recent months.
