Johor, Malaysia, January 22, 2025: Pakistan’s ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup campaign ended after a 13-run loss to Ireland in a rain-affected match at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval on Wednesday.

With this defeat, Pakistan finished fourth in Group B and will now face Samoa in the 4th place playoff on Friday, January 24, at the same venue. Meanwhile, Ireland, along with England and the USA, advanced to the Super Six stage of the tournament.

Winning the toss, Ireland opted to bat and posted 69-5 in the allotted nine overs. Alice Walsh, who was named Player of the Match, top-scored with a quickfire 31 off 19 balls, including five boundaries.
Walsh’s opening partner, Freya Sargent, contributed 11 off 10 balls, while Annabel Squires and Abbi Harrison added unbeaten scores of 13 and 10, respectively.

For Pakistan, Memoona Khalid impressed with the ball, claiming two wickets in her only over.

Pakistan’s revised target, under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) Method, was set at 73 runs in nine overs.

Pakistan started strongly with an opening stand of 24 runs in 2.1 overs, but their innings faltered as wickets began to tumble. The team eventually managed only 59-7. Skipper Komal Khan was the top scorer with 12 runs off 12 balls, including a solitary boundary.

For Ireland, Ellie McGee was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 13 runs in her two overs.

Ireland’s victory ensured their progression alongside England and the United States (USA) to the Super Six stage, leaving Pakistan to compete in the placement matches.
