Rawalpindi, February 10, 2025: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, has called on Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi to stand by law and justice.

During an informal interaction with journalists at Adiala Jail, Khan directly addressed the Chief Justice, stating:

“The nation is looking towards you.”

Khan also revealed that he had written two letters to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, citing that all democratic avenues had been obstructed. His remarks come shortly after the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), led by CJP Yahya Afridi, approved the appointment of six new judges to the Supreme Court. The decision was met with a boycott by PTI lawmakers and two senior Supreme Court judges.

The 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician, behind bars since August 2023, lashed out at the ruling coalition, stating:

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and federal ministers are all fake. There is no hope from Parliament.”

Khan reiterated PTI’s claim that the February 8, 2024, general elections were rigged, alleging that the party’s mandate was stolen.

“The Parliament is not functional. It is a fraud parliament,” he asserted.

Regarding the stalled negotiations between PTI and the ruling coalition, Khan expressed skepticism, saying he does not expect any breakthrough in the discussions.

With political tensions high and PTI leaders continuing to challenge the legitimacy of the government, all eyes remain on CJP Afridi’s stance and potential legal developments.
