Mumbai, February 10, 2025: The romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Mawra Hocane and Harshvardhan Rane, is set to make a return to theatres following its cult resurgence on OTT platforms.

Despite struggling at the box office upon its initial release in 2016, the Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru-directed film has gained a dedicated fanbase over the years, prompting its re-release in cinemas.

Lead actor Harshvardhan Rane expressed gratitude and optimism about the re-release, stating, “I hope it does what it didn’t do earlier, that’s it. Everyone was asking me everywhere to bring this film back.”

He recalled the film’s initial underperformance, describing it as a void that pushed him to campaign for its return to theatres. Using a light-hearted analogy, he compared the trend of film re-releases to remarriage, saying, “Even after parents get divorced, they get married again sometimes. As a child, I am very happy with this marriage. I am up for remarriages and re-releases.”

Rane also revealed his personal efforts in reviving the film, sharing how he persistently urged the producers to bring Sanam Teri Kasam back: “I was standing below my producer’s office screaming my lungs out to bring this film back. Many people said that you can’t really go to the producer’s office and ask for a re-release—that’s unheard of. But this is how I am. If I am into something, I put my skin in the game.”

The actor hopes that the re-release will replicate the success stories of films like Tumbbad and Laila Majnu, which found greater appreciation in their second run.
